Out of Africa!

Post by Steve Appleton »

There is no doubt you would think that FOTR and its passengers are lost somewhere in deepest rural Africa! The golden dry grass gives that away. But, you'd be wrong. This is actually a station platform; that at Rayton. After disembarking some passengers for the Willem Prinsloo Farm Museum, the train hauled by class 15F number 3117, will shortly depart platform jungle-1, re-join the main line for a few metres and then turn out left onto the Cullinan branch. Certainly looks the part. I think the horticultural dept of railways has taken over all stations!

Nathan, congratulations on your new avatar (the picture on the left of your post) - I think this is the first time you have used it? Is this the French fireman look, complete with disgustingly strong cigarette and funny hat?

Nice pic Steve A.

Pity the grass is so long, and peppered with unsightly weeds and rubbish!

Can it be possible to ask the Rayton fire-crew/s to do a control burn of the platform at Rayton, before the next train to Cullinan. I believe Arno may have one additional unscheduled (to date, subject to correction . . ) train to Cullinan!
