Witbank 2007 - on our way home by Nathan Berelowitz

1. Sunday morning grey departure. The Witbank yard comes alive as 19D 2650 and 15CA 2056 prepare to return to Capital Park, after a successful weekend away.

2. To enable the Witbank Marathon train to return to Capital Park, the movement out of Witbank entailed a fairly long propelling movement out onto the Oogies junction, and then once past the signals, the train could pull forward and take the connecting loop to head out on the main Pretoria Line. Seen here are the 19D and 15CA combination and the life saving Coal Grab exiting the national road highway bridge.

3. Fire bright, needle right, vacuum brake slightly applied. The way things should look. Cab of 19D 2650 heading home from Witbank.

4. Misty morning grey and green. "Groen!" calls the fireman to his driver as the welcome green calls the train onwards to its home destination. 19D firemans side near Clewer.

5. At the FOTR site, a shunt takes place to enable the Reef Steamers train to
return home. The successful Witbank marathon is now over and the train must
be put to bed.
