Sunday, 7 August 2016: Tshwane Xplorer and Open Day at Hermanstad
Please note: This trip has been rescheduled from 9th August. We regret that Tuesday 9th August train has been cancelled. Tickets issued for that date will now be valid on this 7th August train.
On Sunday 7 August 2016, FOTR will have a festive Open Day at its own private Hermanstad Station. Starting at 10:00 am there will be all sorts of activities including live music, braais (bring your own food), food stalls, and short train rides within the depot. Bring your own cooler box.
Entrance fees: R20 per adult. R10 per child under 12.
At 13:30 our vintage steam train leaves on an afternoon Tshwane Xplorer trip. This year, due to unavoidable line closures for maintenance, we will be travelling northwards out through Wonderboom Poort, Pretoria North and into the country past Bon Accord. We travel through the fascinatiing large Pyramid South TFR yard and turn the train around on the balloon there before returning to our station. This trip will be of about 2.5 hours duration and take in some of Pretoria's northern suburbs and the open countryside to the north of the city. Bring your cooler box on board.
Advance bookings for the Tshwane Xplorer are essential. Please book early! Seats sell quickly and we cannot guarantee that any will be available on the day.
Adults: R200, Pensioners and disabled persons: R175, Teenagers 13 to 18: R150, children 7 to 13: R125, Children 2 to 6: R75, Infants under 2: free. 10% discount for parties of 15 or more persons (discount NOT available at Computicket).
