Re: Nairobi Railway Museum: steam crane

The Sandstone list includes 3 Graftons at Nairobi, G630 of 1900 is unlikely to be the one now in existance which leaves G2110 and G2152 both recorded as built in 1923. these numbers corresponding well with the numbers and dates of the many other Grafton cranes still in existance around the world. Al...

North Norfolk

Just home from a few days in North Norfolk, to those who do not know of the area it has a number of tourist railways, as well as the standard gauge North Norfolk Railway at Sheringham and the Mid Norfolk Railway at Dereham, there is the excellent 9 mile 15'' gauge Bure Valley Railway at Aylsham, the...

Re: Austria: Innsbruck 1976 by Trainman

I looked at this photo of Nathan's a couple of times thinking that can't be Innsbruck. Today I got my photos out from around 1983, the platform canopies have changed the building appears to have changed, still I thought it can't be the same station then I realised even on my poorer photos the mounta...

Re: More action at Midhants

Really great photos from Chris here. We stayed near there last year, glorious place, lots of large engines in the depot, in steam was the same Bulleid Pacific 'Wadebridge' and A4 Pacific 'Bittern. The Class 9F 92212 had just been repainted and looked very good. I've added a photo I took in Alton Sta...

Re: A Piece of Man

Kevin, I took them a couple of weeks ago. If you get chance the island is well worth a visit. The little Bagnall engine, Sea Lion, on the Groudle Glen Railway is the original engine built for the line in 1896. A second one, Polar Bear, was built in 1905 for the railway and is now still in operation ...

A Piece of Man

Can't find anything about the Isle of Man in this forum. The island has at least 7 railways, here are photos of the IoM Steam Railway which runs over 15 miles across the island from Douglas to Port Erin, the Electric Railway which is glorious 17 mile ride on double track from Douglas to Ramsey and h...

Australia and Back

This delightful little 0-4-0 now named Mountaineer, originally Sarah Louis, was built in Germany in 1970 by Wiilheim Van Den Heiden for a light railway in a park in Beekbergan in the Netherlands, in 1985 it was sold to the Bush Mills Railway in Tasmania where it was rebuilt in 1993 with a larger boi...

Re: Welsh Highland Railway NGG16's in the Pass of Aberglasyn

Some very nice photos by Ian, but it should be noted though that the difference in size between the locomotives and the coaches in two of the photos is because the coaches shown are older FR/WHR ones on loan from the Ffestiniog Railway, compare with the second photo where the coaches are modern comf...

Re: French scenes

Austerlitz may not be the greatest station in Paris but if your in that city and have the time it really is worth a visit if only to see that wonderful steel and glass work. Not quite a St Pancras but still worth a visit'
Really nice photos.

Kevin, sorry not to reply earlier, been to N Wales to see guess what. I did as you said it simply tells me the picture size is 1.22MB,also the disk size is 1.22MB, no mention of pixels or inches. Don't know if it helps I use a Fuji Finepix A500 camera which has 5.1 mega pixels printed on it. My phot...
