Atlantic Rail trip to Simons Town 29 June 2014

A few line side photographs of Atlantic Rails trip to Simons Town on what was a surprisingly sunny and rain-free day in cold Cape Town. The locomotive in use was newly restored Class 16DA No.879 - named 'Katie.' 29 June 2014.

After chasing the Phelophepha we headed off to Welkom were we found ex-sar class 31-001 "spotty" hard at work on the mine system, next it was off to Harmony and the RRL where the class 91's were seen.

Phelophepa

Two weeks back I had the oppertunity of photographing the Phelophepa, the Health train. The photos were taken along the Bethlehem - Bloemfontein line, the once famouse line for its 25's. This line now hardly see's any traffic.

Very, very, very sad! But I think the best thing to do is to scrap the locos at chamdor to raise funds for moving the locos at the south and north site to Reefsteamers. Coaches such as the one Drakensberg coah (guards van), west vaal ( I think) and other "good" condition coaches saved. But what ...

Baby sitting/ night shots

Myself, Tony Attwell and Jade Wilson looked after 2650 on saturday evening. Orders where to clean the bottom half of 2650, ie. the wheels etc. This gave me the chance to try night photography for the first time.
