Reach for a Dream

Post by Steve Appleton »

On Saturday 2nd May 2015 trip to Cullinan we had a group of about 20 teens and children (including carers) on a charity-sponsored trip for kids who are "reaching for a dream".
Reach for Dream Foundation goals:
We encourage children to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses. And we seek as far as possible to make dreams come true. Our vision is to grow the Foundation, enabling us to continue giving hope to children fighting life-threatening illnesses through the fulfillment of their dreams, and to further help as many children facing these illnesses though our national projects.

Here is a pic of one of the lucky kids who got to travel on the steam train outing.

A little about Family Focus:
While coming into contact with families when fulfilling dreams, it was realised that family relations are under tremendous strain due to the illness of the dream child. Parents try to remain strong and do not always share how they feel. Husband & wife spend very little time together. Often siblings, especially the teenagers, will act out while the younger siblings remain quiet about how they feel. Due to the huge financial strain on the family, many of them have not been on holiday, since the child was diagnosed while others have never been away at all!
"To train or not to train, that is the question"
