The rail sector is central to this aim, and yet in South Africa it has been brought to its knees, this despite the country having the best rail infrastructure in Africa. How did this happen? I sat down with three industry leaders from the railway sector to find out...

Railways on verge of total collapse
South Africa's railway system is teetering on the verge of total collapse as a result of the daily theft of kilometres of electric cable, vandals carrying away track and signalling equipment, and station buildings being completely demolished...

South Africa's railway system on the verge of total collapse (video)
A new report commissioned by the Brenthurst Foundation reveals that South Africa's railway system is on the verge of total collapse. This is attributed to the theft of kilometres of electric cables, vandals carrying away tracks and signalling equipment, and general vandalism of workstations...

SA loses plenty as a result of the trains that don’t run and the ports that can’t ship...
