Ceres Rail Facebook change

Post by John Ashworth »

Many of you have been asking why we had to go the route of setting up a new page for Ceres Rail Company when one had clearly existed for a long time.

Allow us to give a brief overview:

1. The previous page administrators left Ceres Rail Company in 2020 and no handover was done with regards to Facebook.

2. Ceres Rail Company filed a request with Facebook to take control of the Ceres Rail Company Facebook page. After numerous submissions and notarised legal statements, the request was granted on the 1st February 2021 and our Administrator was added, by Facebook Support, to the Ceres Rail Company Facebook Page as an administrator.

3. Our new Administrator was almost immediately removed from the page by the previous administrators.

4. The page was renamed, and the URL changed, but the 17 000 followers were taken along.

We decided that it would be best for all involved that a new Ceres Rail Company page to be set up immediately to give everyone who has followed our journey for the last 6 years to carry on doing so.

We appeal to the administrators of New Cape Central Railway to display a pinned post to this page from "their" page. This will ensure that the 17000 people who decided to like the actual Ceres Rail Company (not its page administrators) are not taken along for a ride they did not sign up for.

Despite many rumours out there, Ceres Rail Company has not shut its doors and is very much alive; we're just building steam.

We will have more news for you in the weeks to come!
