I wasn't even born in 1981. What is that yellow loco in the second picture? Never seen that colour scheme before.

Warren, the second picture appears to be of either of Rhodesia Railways (RR) or National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ). Those are their liveries. Green is the earlier one of the two.

Could be true, Steve. I was handed a whole batch of photos taken by my brother-in-law c1981 when he lived in South Africa. He knew the locations of some of them, but not others.
