Ore Wagon Type 3

Post by Kevin Wilson-Smith »

These are the commonest ore carrying wagons in use at Thabazimbi.

They look like dedicated units, but again maybe someone can help with the questions below.

The first picture shows an older unit - noite here how the old SAS marking were painted on in a patchy fashion - similar to Ore Wagon Type 2 here... http://www.friendsoftherail.com/phpBB2/ ... 145&t=6597

The second photo shows 3 more variations on the same type of wagon - on the right a Transnet marked wagon - marked on black panels this time. In the middle the old Spoornet logo. On the left the new Transet logo. Note positioning and size of the logos is the same.

Again questions....

IS there a specific name for this particular type of wagon?

First introduced when?

Is this type of wagon used for other goods? What?
