DF4D from Dalian, prime mover not stated, but probably Chinese indigenous 16V240ZJD
The Kenyans are going to live in interesting times if these units perform like the CKD8B in the TAZARA

Re: Chinese SG locos for Kenya

It has just been pointed to me that the locos are wearing the China Road & Bridge Construction logo, so contractors locos, and not for the Kenyan Rail Authority

It is to be hoped that the Kenyans have the cash to pay for them when the contract is finalised

Angola has a command economy so local rail managers did not have access to ready cash when their rail contracts were completed

Stompie that as the managers were unable to bribe the departing Chinese contractors into "donating" their locos. The contractors simply gasaxed out the section of the frame carrying the engine/generator (frame acting as skid), and sold to local businessmen to convert into gensets. Cat 3508B, 3512B, and 3516B. Locos involved were from CNR Beijing February 7th Railway Transport Equipment Co., CK6E1, E2 and E3 models. Number of locos involved 25+, all less than 8 years old
