(Sorry for the VERY late answer, but as I just joined the forum today...)John Ashworth wrote:Self-propelled diesel freight - here
This is no longer a self-propelled diesel train. This was a prototype "CargoSprinter" of the german railways DB, who didn't give satisfaction. This has been sold to Switzerland, the one to the building company Marti (The picture of the link), and the other one to InterRegioCargo (see here: http://www.trainweb.org/railphot/Yearbo ... .html#0806 and here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xa3l0h ... lundefined).
The end cars are no longer self-propelled, but are simply used as control cars. The train is push-pulled by an engine class Re 4/4'' (New: Class Re 420).

Re: Swiss 'Cargo Sprinter'
Thanks, Pierre-Noel, for the update. Does anyone know if the British self-propelled diesel freight trains are still going strong? As far as I can recall they are being used for weed spraying, de-icing and railhead treatment (ie clearing fallen leaves), but still self-propelled.
