Today members of the Friends of the Railway Museum gathered to attempt to clean no 2921, Masai of Kenya. After much scrubbing with paraffin and detergent, we eventually came to the conclusion that the maroon paint has faded to a yellowy-grey colour and that we'll probably need to repaint her to bring her back to her original colour. Nevertheless, we left her a little less grimy than when we started.

- In this photo the paintwork looks greyish. In reality it looks a sort of sandy yellow. The actual paint is maroon!

- Where the paint has not been too badly affected by the sun it comes up nicely with a bit of paraffin and elbow grease

- David, the FORM chair, removes a loose bolt from the name plate. Several bolts are missing, and I will use this one to buy some more of the correct size
