Although this article is about a steam loco in UK, I post it in the "FOTR - Announcements and News" sub-forum because FOTR also has a long association with David Shepherd and another of his locomotives, 15F no 3052. In the early 2000s, FOTR moved it in light steam from its old home in Mason's Mill to Ficksburg. A couple of years later we operated it for David when he came out for a visit; he thoroughly enjoyed his footplate rides. We then lost touch with 3052 for a number of years, but in 2016 this magnificent locomotive arrived in FOTR's site in Hermanstad, Pretoria, and is now running as one of FOTR's regular locomotives. The picture below shows David with some of the friends of his old 9F no 92203. Somewhere in our archives we have similar photos of David and 3052 with Cliff Petzer, Mike Haslam and myself.
