50 kV 60AC GF6C's

Ask a real train driver or fireman questions about how engines work, railways operate or anything else. If we do not know the answer, we will find out!

50 kV 60AC GF6C's

Post by Robert McDonald »

It is exciting to see new power packs being installed on the Orex line.

I wrote about the BC Rail Tumbler Subdivision Coal Export line, my articles
being the anchor for a new museum (with a transplanted South African
on the committee!) and newspaper reprint at Tumbler Ridge.

It is indeed noteworthy the inaccuracies on the net concerning the BC
line. There are only TWO tunnels on the line. The decision to electrify
was ORIGINALLY based on crew safety. It is ironic that after the Japanese
contract was fulfilled, the next day, orders were inked to destroy the GF6C's.

The line is becoming active once again, with diesels only.

Replacement of the 9E's will be time consuming; any estimate as to when the
replacements 15E's will be fully realized?

I invite you to read the only comprehensive article available on the net - it took
me four months to research and write. The LINK to the four part series is in this
deconstruction piece I wrote.
