Triple Track Cajon - Pentrex

Well - just got a batch of new DVD's. Here's the first I have watched................

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Cajon Pass has long been a classic route, and favorite amongst rail fans.

The majority of the Pass is serviced (was serviced!) by two lines, and in 2007, BNSF started work on a third main track linking the 15.9 miles between Summit and Keenbrook.

This DVD covers the story of the third track.

The first part deals with the construction from beginning to end - the topping of the tunnels, cutting new slopes and embankments; moving millions of cubic yards of earthwork and rocks, building culverts and retaining walls, creating five new bridges, and track laying.

Very impressive indeed - the topping of the tunnels alone were a big feat and the moving (literally) of the mountains to do this is impressive indeed on film.

The next sections of the DVD deal with travel and trains on the new trackage - including a trip from Verdemont to Summit (with some interesting "before and after" footage, a well as some snow scenes (!!!!!!) filmed after a heavy winter storm.

There is also a cab ride from Blue Cut to Summit included as an extra.

Running time is over 3 hours, so this good value indeed! It also is in HD - but it plays fine on an ordinary DVD player!

A great DVD - recommended!
