Yo,Yo,Yo, this is excellent.
What is the meta-data of this pic? The Trainmen must've stood very still.

Despite the little shunter in the background, you could date this picture at early 80's! 24 looks good in "SAR" condition as thats how they used to look. Only clean ones I ever saw were at George.

Dylan, Nathan made the dewcision to keep the loco looking like a "real" loco I believe.
And Luca - they did stand very still!!!! the Shot is a 10 sec exposure! But in fact is they stadns till for around 7 secs and then do not move too much for the remaining the pics come out OK.
It was obviously taken at the Photo Gala - when all the posing and "posing" goes on!!!!

Interesting, did you maybe use a fill-in flash?
Super-shiny loco's does have a place at the front of the Bluetrain, but grummy workhorses with 'real' dirt is so much closer to the real thing...

No fill in flash - this does not work for me (although other peole use fill in quite happily).
You can actually see the timed expose in the steam effect - hazy.
As also here, where the locs were stationary....

Interesting, yes, I like the hazy effect long time exposures gives, it's the same as when you photograph a waterfall or something similar.

In Switzerland, locos are fitted with two car headlamps , ie, the two bottom ones in the triangle, to improve visibility in tunnels. Just how much of the track can the driver of the SA locos see at night with that huge light?
