Post by John Ashworth »

A swaging machine has come into FOTR's possession. Photos January 2015.
On 19th January 2015, Les Labuschagne wrote:Steve Smith, Nathan and Robert have been very busy commissioning the swaging machine... The swaging machine was brought back to life on Saturday and yesterday Nathan with the help of Chris Zimbabwe and helper swaged all the tubes for the 19D and the 24 class.

Talking of tubes etc, it would be wise to use boiler chemical to help tube and boiler life. Here are some pictures of our 19D 2685 after long use of chemicals adapted for the water we use at USR. Any water treatment specialists should be able to help you out. We spending around R350 a day on chemical, well worth it. These tubes are 13 years old and still look good.
