John,

Isnt it about time somebody gave 3117 a name? you cant go around calling her 3117 for the rest of her life. Or does she have a name already?

I think 3117 is quite close to being named. We had a poll on the names of various ladies associated with FOTR and one emerged ahead of the others. However there was then a brainwave suggesting that this loco be named differently - Hercules. Unusual to have a masculine name, but this is one powerful engine, and Hercules is also appropriate as we are moving to the new site of the same name. I'm not on the FOTR Board of Directors any more since I moved back to Sudan so I'm not sure whether they have made a final decision yet, but I suspect 3117 will have a name before too long.

She needs a strong sounding name, one that conjures up images of great power and strength. Something that is so powerfull, it could move mountains and even have great pillars of strength!
