Class 7

Post by Dylan Knott »

Anyone know what the std livery was for a class 7 in the 1950's?

Require specific details as far as the frame, cab, wheels, rods etc were painted. Numberplates were in English only.

It would have been black only as we had very few coloured locos in our railway history, except the NZASM green, Green 15F and I think there was a proposed blue colour schem for one of the provinces. Of course latter days was the blue S2 in Pretoria, The coloured NG locos in Port Elizabeth and Alfred County. Green 15F and 25NC and Rovos Livery. Blue 19D here and Bloemfontein. Then the industrials.

Don't forget the Red Devil. There was also a 25 Oil Burner that was used for the Union Limited in the 90's. I wonder what happened to that 25.George had a green 24 3655 and the blue 19d 2749.

Ok, what type of headlight would have been fitted? Assume the modern square type only appeared at a later stage.

Headlight would more than likely have been a Pyle National oblong one, and not the Tonum half moon shaped one as still used on most of the clubs locos.
