Reefsteamers new project

Photos of Reefsteamers! Photos should be 800x600 pixels, maximum size 130K. Very good ones will be moved to the Online Gallery, the rest will be pruned away after 14 days to conserve space. If you have photos of FOTR Engines and Stock, please post them in the FOTR Gallery in the Friends of the Rail Forum above.

Reefsteamers new project

Post by Aidan McCarthy »

Reefsteamers has started work on the restoration of 12R 1947. This locomotive was for many years the Germiston station pilot and then plinthed in front of the Germiston depot signing on office. She will make a very good partner to our 12AR 1535

I can't disagree with that statement of yours Aidan!!!!

WOW, it certainly will be an attraction when 1947 and 1535 double-header a train. Wishing RS all the best in the project, and hopefully 1947 will be up and running soon!!!! Good Luck!!

I guess the boiler condition is the big issue, as well as spare parts. What is the plan here?
It will be great to se a new class on the preservation scene!

It will be wonderful to see Rusty Rosie on the rails alongside Susan, but I believe that Susan may not pass her next boiler inspection due to the lower sector of the front tube plate was found to be worn down to the minimum safe thickness for operation and she may require major repairs. I hold thumbs for both of these 2 locos.
Not quite on the rails.
