The narrator spent some time with the Great Central Railway engaged in a a hands on - starting as a cleaner and moving up to firing. From here he learns how to prepare a loco for a trip and he that "takes the controls" of a loco express from Loughborough Central to Rothley.

An entertaining view, it has a bit of everything, from the workings of a loco, to the various jobs needed to keep it on the road.
