Don't let it be said that PRASA/Shlosh Meyl (and TFR!!) can't make quick, snap decisions sometimes. I suppose if you have almost no patronage you inconvenience no one....

I have the impression that the Railway won't carrie passengers anymore?
Especially during the worl cup I think it is a fine think to go by train from place to place and now also no service to Durban?

I heard on the news last Friday that they want to build a high speed train from JHb to DBN taking three hours. I looked at the date . No it was not April fools. I bet the trains in Europe must be popular with the Icelandik Volcano.

Yes at the moment it seems that all people use the railway or taxi and that they rent a car. Today it was allowed that some airplanes flew in visual flight. Maybe tomorrow they will allow it again for some hours and only if here are good weather conditions.

Yes it was announced last week at parliament. It is a grand idea of a high speed train between Durban and Johannesburg but there are major hurdles. The first two are the mountainous areas of Drakensburg and Pietermaritzburg/Thousand Hills areas. Then the question is who will win the contract PRASA with their Cape Gauge or Gautrain. I have also heard both PRASA and Gautrain mention their interest in the project on different occasions. PRASA great goal is to have the entire passenger rail under their ambit including Gautrain. The project has to be viable ie Cost of building/running with the amount you can charge with the amount of people using. When you crunch the numbers it just doesn’t make sense. But it is still a great idea.
