Taking control of a high speed train...

Post by John Ashworth »

Is this piece from uk.railway newsgroup reminscent of Nathan's experience in a French high speed train?
From a Motor Racing Forum

"FORMER Formula One world champion Emerson Fittipaldi has been accused taking control of a high-speed train and endangering the lives of passengers. Czech railway officials said the Brazilian double world champion was travelling to a motorbike race in October when the incident happened.

Fittipaldi had been allowed in the train driver's compartment for publicity shots by the state rail company but fell foul of the rules when he "moved without permission a lever influencing the functioning of the passenger train," the country's railways inspectorate said in a statement.

The 60-year-old Brazilian, who won the world titles in 1972 and 1974, will find out later what punishment he will face".

Maybe an accident? This reminds of when I was once on an icebreaker. I was standing ion the fore deck and it was icy (surprise). I started to slip, so grabbed onto the nearest thing which happened to be the quadrant for ringing instructions to the engine room, and this promptly jammed in the right engine reverse position!

Couldn't understand why the bridge staff were getting so excited!
