Hi All,
The steam drought of the past two years was finally broken today with the long awaited and widely advertised Atlantic Rail Openday. Although the weather was a bit drabby, the public support was unbelievable, there is definately a market for lots and lots of steam trains in the Western Cape :)
Please find photos attached (not exactly poster material due to the weather)...
#3655 Departs on one of her first trips of the morning, FULL of very happy passengers Proof of fire:) A very happy driver Two cousins side-by-side The other main attraction was the vintage London bus, I don't know how these open-deck busses did in London where it rains every day...

That open top London bus is only for tourists - real Londoners prefer to be inside a closed top bus! I'm no expert but it looks like a Regent Type, which I grew up with in the 1950s and early '60s before the Routemasters took over.

I noticed that the number plate on the side of the loco is for 3665 but the second 6 has been painted over to make it a 5.

Yes, Luca is quite correct - crime in South Africa. So we had to make do with what we had.allanroy wrote:I noticed that the number plate on the side of the loco is for 3665 but the second 6 has been painted over to make it a 5.
