The completed "James Straight", named after James Smith, who spent much of his free time assisting with the track laying at the Hermanstad site. The track now reaches the main gate.

A length of rail was replaced that was too short, by one that was just too long. This section was later cut and drilled by John Dadford.

History being made. The first trial load consisting of an old motor coach driving unit, main line 2nd class sitter and our clerestory Manager's coach are the first to be placed. Arno Grundling does the shunt work with our security person, "Chopper", watching.

The locomotive to make the historic event is class 24 number 3664 driven by Frik Boshoff, who incidentally took this same locomotive over the newly laid track in the site's infancy, when we laid the first section from TFR to our back gate.

"Hokai"! That will do. Load stands for the first time on the new "James Straight". Thank you all and a great thanks to SANRASM for their donation of the first part of their old site's track. Once again steel wheels will roll across them and no longer just rust and leaves!
