10. January 2008 - Block Insulation

Post by Kevin Wilson-Smith »

Block insulation is necessary to enable, on an ANALOG layout, the running of multiple trains on the same line - i.e. one behind the other.

How is this done ? Quite simply but making the track into electric blocks by inserting insulators to isolate the various track sections or blocks. This can be done on stretches of line, or after switches or points.

This can also easily be done after the tracks have been laid and a decision is has been made on what blocks to have and where.
