This van is about to be scrapped. Some of the timber will be saved to repair the regional manager's saloon.

Re: Old SANRASM brake van
She is or was in this case one of three in SA. One with the THF which was used in their special trains and the other was with Rovos until sold.
If I stand correct she is a GD-23 type.

Re: Old SANRASM brake van
It has been stored in Pretoria for many years and is in very poor condition. SANRASM donated it to FOTR on the basis that they could scrap it and use the funds raised to assist in moving track from SANRASM North site to Hermanstad, all that track also having been donated to FOTR. In addition FOTR have collected a number of machines from North site, with more to come and there's a pile of fire bricks still to go, some have already been collected. Also some doors and windows from the 3rd class suburban coach and a few 15F pieces and a couple of loco cabs
Signs of the new SANRASM management taking action to assist others.
