Stack talk at the cricket

Post by John Ashworth »

Atlantic Rail's Valentine's Day steam train passed the cricket ground on Sunday 17th February 2013 - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpay-aPGfRE

Comments on sar-L include:
I was next to the cricket ground in Newlands yesterday afternoon at about 4 or 4:30pm when I heard a steam loco whistling.

As it came near by the regulator was opened fully and we were treated to the most impressive stack talk I have head in over 10 years.

The train was going at a pace, you could hardly hear the individual beats.
Pakistan lost their 4th wicket (114/4) as the train went by! The train's whistle and exhaust beat was clearly heard above the commentator's voice on DSTV.
Wish I had been watching cricket then.
Unfortunately there was a wheel with a flat spot, spoiling the sound a bit.
