This operating steam railroad is just across the road from the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and the two are rail-linked, but they are completely separate operations.
The railroad runs a steam train every hour on open days. The round trip is about 45 minutes and 9 miles. This includes a short stop to listen to a ghostly echo from the whistle in a certain location (the conductor assure you over the PA that it is not an echo but a ghost train) and a request stop at a picnic site.

- The Red Caboose Motel is actually made up of cabooses, albeit not all red, but it's virtually impossible to get a decent photo of them from the train.

- This is Amish country. A farmer tends his field. Some of the cabooses of the Red Caboose Motel can be seen in the background.

- Another authentic Amish scene. This is real everyday life, not something staged for heritage purposes.
