Paul Stratford wrote:Now a question for you or one of your FOTR historian colleagues. The attached pictures are of a tea cup and saucer, I also have a coffee cup and saucer and a coffee pot, which I believe were from the 1947 Royal Train which toured SA with our Royal Family and which later became the White Train.
Produced in the UK by Minton they are gold embossed and have the South Africa coat of arms.
Can you help in the identification of the items?

Re: White Train Porcelain Query
Separately, Paul received a response from the museum at George.
Dear Sir
This crockery was definitely used on the Royal train of 1947.
Kind regards

I know I'm a bit late with this ( 2 years !), but I happen to live in the county of Staffordshire in the UK.
In particular, I live in Stoke on Trent, which was once THE world centre of the pottery making industry.
But no more ! All the famous factories have been closed and demolished, and what bit there is left
has moved production to the Far East.
The huge Minton factory site is now a Supermarket and car park ! Progress !!!
