Trains to return in 10 of South Africa’s rail corridors by September, vows Mbalula
The plan to get 10 of South Africa’s railway corridors up and running again by September or October is firmly on track, according to Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula... “We took a conscious decision to prioritise 10 commuter rail corridors for reconstruction and recovery this calendar year,” the minister said...

PRASA Says Fixing Vandalised Rail Corridors Is On Track
PRASA's efforts to return 10 priority commuter rail corridors to service were on track with work expected to be complete by the end of the year, the agency's acting group CEO David Mphelo said on Wednesday. "Through the war room that we have established and the commitment from our employees, we envision completing the work on the key priority corridors by the end of this calendar year," Mephelo said during a ministerial inspection of Gauteng's passenger rail corridors...

PRASA Corridor Rebuilding
On Wednesday, 20 July 2022, The Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula, joined by the PRASA Board and Management undertook an oversight visit of the three corridors that were temporarily closed in May, for major rehabilitation work. These being:

- Naledi - Johannesburg (OHTE 70% complete) **Overhead Traction Equipment (wires)
- Pienaarspoort – Pretoria (90% complete)
- Leralla – Johannesburg (will stop at Elandsfontein) – (40% complete)...
