Re: Mining sector calls for privatisation of South African rail network

Post by John Ashworth »

Privatisation is not the solution to all the ills of the railway world. It's worth remembering what an absolute pig's ear South African company Sheltam led by South African Roy Puffett made of the privatisation of Kenya's railways. Under-capitalised venture capitalists often see railways as targets for asset-stripping rather than investing to make them viable transport networks for their nations.
