One would not say that she was a gleaming shed pilot once upon a time in Bloemfontein. The after many years of standing dumped at the back of Capital Park shed, she was finally plinthed near the front entrance of the depot. FOTR deplinthed her years ago, when the shed closed and vandalism became apparant.

Amazing what burning cotton waste in a smokebox can do! This was a couple of years ago. We had the 8 on the pit and were cosmetically restoring her. Decided she looked so real alongside a working loco, and some Hollywooding fx and voila!

That was taken in November 2002. As Nathan says, a bit of parrafin and oil on cotton waste and it looks much better! The fireman's side was was painted and cleaned up some time that year, and looks fairly good in the pic! The smokebox wheel and headlight were cloned off 2650!

Cheers,
Trev.
