Following a post on sar-L attempting to list the remaining serviceable steam locos, Trainman responded with a clarification regarding the Rovos Rail locos:

Rovos Rail's 25 NC 3533 is getting very close - I believe they are waiting for some small spare parts before the final boiler test can be done.

With regards to SANRASM, 14R 1909 is no longer serviceable due to a bad leak on the superheater header, which is either possibly crack or the joint between the boiler and header has been serious damaged!
To compound this problem there are no active members within this group that have sufficient technical skill/s to facilitate the necessary repairs, let alone there is insufficient workshop facilities or even the tools required, to have this locomotive repaired!
Further, train operations (Open Days) at SANRASM's Millsite South Site has been temporarily suspended and future passenger operations in and out of this venue is at jeopardy.
The 6A 454, is in a sad condition however still serviceable, but for how long?!!!!
