Track was then laid on the first part of the top (shown in number post number 16).

Photo 1 shows the track in place - laid exactly the same as the base track work. Notice the solid supporting base and the simple "lap" joining the two parts together. Easy and effective.

Photo 2 shows the side of the first extension - use of the threaded bolts enables easy leveling and adjustment. It also again makes the structure solid.

Photo 3 - An end shot of the same location. You can see the rest of the track that was laid, as well as a Tachowagon.

Photo 4 - A Tachowagon? Based on a lowl oader, a reads off the model speed of a train, i.e. "100 km/h", converted into HO scale. If one needs to know just how long the model route in HO-kilometres is around the layout simply run the Tachowagon over the route, and the display will indicate the HO-kilometre measurement. Cunning!

Nice if you like gadgets and also useful - for example you can see what a scale speed really looks like on the layout and then run your trains more realistically.
