NEW LIGHT BLUES AT BRAAMFONTEIN

On December 5, 2012 Railways Africa

From Dr Vaughan Mostert:

“Two more light blue 18Es, 423 and 425 in residence. After all the talk of dirty locos on the Blue Train, using this colour scheme could be quite effective as it creates a contrast between the locos and the train. No mention of Shosholoza Meyl as on 18 421, however. They were standing next to E1496 which could well be the lowest number loco to still carry a number plate (one side only).

Another newcomer is car carrier 21100 (the other car carriers are numbered in the 20600 series). Nothing special about it really except that it now carries its third number. It started out as a parcel van 20222 and was then rebuilt as a K52 brake van 21062.
