Reminds me of the time when one of FOTR's on board crew dropped his radio out of the window near Panpoort. He watched it drop and bounce, then cleverly recorded the overhead mast number nearest its resting place. On the return journey from Cullinan later that day we briefly stopped at that point where he disembarked and picked it up off the ballast, still working!

We had a similar incident on one of USR's Inchanga trips last month, the difference being the passengers Blackberry ended up on the ballast after going down the toilet!

The loco crew spotted the phone and retrieved it on the return journey.
