Railway Across the Equator by the late Mohamed Amin
Camerapix (1996) ISBN 0370307747
Excellent coffe-table book of pictures from the east African railway system. Mohamed Amin was killed in the hijacked Ethiopian Airways plane that crashed in the sea off the Comoros Islands. This book is one of many testaments to his skill as a photographer.
It's out of print now. I have my own copy in storage in London, but recently was able to pick up what was probably one of the last copies left in Nairobi and bring it for Kevin, who had expressed an interest. The little Indian-owned bookshop on the top floor of the Yaya Centre is still an excellent source of unusual books about East Africa. I got quite a shock on my last visit when I found it was gone from its old position opposite Cafe Creme, but fortunately it had just moved a few shops further along.
