SPECIAL ALONGSIDE THE COMRADES

The Umgeni Steam Railway will be running a special “Inchanga Choo-Choo” vintage steam-hauled train on Sunday 2 June 2013. The line parallels the route of the Comrades Marathon for much of the distance, so passengers on the 08:30 departure from Kloof station will have an unusual view of the race. There will be a second train at 12:30. The line passes through the spectacular Valley of a Thousand Hills, to Inchanga, where the Inchanga community craft market will be taking place on the station. Passengers can visit the Inchanga station museum and tea garden, which serves buffet breakfasts and lunches.

NB: Certain roads will be closed for the race. When making advance bookings, intending passengers are advised to get directions to Kloof from Rob Macgregor on 031-303 3003, 082-353 6003 or 087-808 7715. For on-line bookings, see www.umgenisteamrailway.co.za

Return fares are R170.00 per person. Senior citizens and children 2 – 12 pay R130.00.There is plenty of secure parking at Kloof station.

Brings back memories of FOTR's accompaniment of the Witbank Marathon in years past. Those were always special and enjoyable events, so best wishes to Umgeni for this one.
