Tender plate ?

Post by John Fellows »

I've seen for sale a brass oval cast plate with the number N 50, and a small plate with MT brazed on to it.
It's said to be off a Class 19D tender; can anyone confirm this, and what does the MT refer to ?

Thanks John UK

The "MT" indicates the tender class. Here's a photo of a class 12R with a MT tender:

Die 19D usually had MR or MX tenders.

I'm in South Africa at the moment and I asked one of the locals. He says the MT was an old short tender. He thinks earlier 19D may have been fitted with the MT, but isn't sure.

My concern is the number N 50 as these plates normally had the numeric loco number that the tender was originally allocated to

John, can you post front and back photos of the plate?
