Renowned artist, conservationist and railway enthusiast dies at the age of 86

Particularly poignant for Friends of the Rail, as a few years ago we moved David's 15F from Mason's Mill to Ficksburg, and then operated it for him when he came out to South Africa on a visit. On that occasion Cliff Petzer drove and I fired, with David on the footplate. He presented us with signed photos of himself with another of his locos, a British 9F. The photo is still on my living room wall. RIP.

David Shepherd Visits North Norfolk Railway (video)

Memorial service for David Shepherd announced

The North Norfolk Railway has announced the date for the Memorial Service which they will host in honour of David Shepherd. This Service will take place on Friday the 2nd of March at 2 pm. Everyone is welcomed to join the Memorial Service.
