Lake and river transport is a major facet of life in many parts of Africa on rivers such as the Nile, the Congo and the Zambesi, and a plethora of lakes, not least of which are Lakes Victoria and Nasser, but with many others, great and small, in countries such as Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, etc.

A few more pictures. The steamer is bringing a party of nuns to join the missionaries working in this remote area, while a group of young people chat at the back of the boat.

Hippos and crocodiles bask on the lake shore - the flamingoes haven't arrived yet.

Scenery is not finished yet. The paint is too bright and glossy - I'll be adding some flock to give it a more realistic texture, plus trees.
