"THE LARGEST BRITISH-OWNED RAILWAY IN BRAZIL is the Leopoldina Railway, which controls 1, 918 miles of metre-gauge track. Its lines serve the three states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Geraes, and Esprito Santo, and the company is an amalgamation of thirty-eight small railways.
