Teenager electrocuted on railway

A teenager has died after being electrocuted on train tracks at a railway station in Surrey, police said.

The 18-year-old from Reigate was killed by the 750-volt live rail after he tripped on the line at Redhill station.

Police said CCTV footage showed the teenager and a 17-year-old jumping a fence at the station early on Saturday.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and for trespassing following the incident. He has been bailed until 21 June.

Police said they thought the pair had been unable to access the station because it was closed.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Police said they were continuing their investigations to obtain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
