3117 - smoking again

Seventeen years later, smoke once more exits the chimney. Following
relocation from Germiston to Capital Park almost ten years ago,and a
gruelling three year restoration period, 15F number 3117 is lit up for the
first time. Minor faults were found and will be rectified. This locomotive
fitted with the short tenders, as the Fs were, will be the third
successfully restored locomotive, from a derelict hulk, by the Friends Of
The Rail. The club has never had a complete locomotive to restore, and 90% of
the pipework on this engine comes from withdrawn 15F number 3094.
4th September, 2008. A date to remember.
