Actually, it was a terrifying ride - easily the most lunatic thing I've ever done. At times I was holding that handrail and swinging round to the other side. Much more dangerous than riding on the buffer beam of shaking, rolling, barking Xai-Xai steam locomotive (must dig THAT Super 8 footage out some time).
But that part of the Norte Line was rebuilt by the French and they did it well. As Posner yelled across the hood to me as we plowed downgrade "I'm sure glad the French did this section ..."
