The new 'Peppercorn' A1 'Tornado' has been unveiled and is on display in the National Railway Museum at York. Stories abound that it will see service on the Royal Train during 2009. The Prince of Wales had earlier expressed delight when the Royal Train was hauled by GWR KE1 during a visit to the Severn Valley in 2008.

The full article and pictures of 'Tornado' can be viewed in the latest edition [No.159] of the electronic magazine Railway Herald.

Thanks for this info Malcolm.

I was in York a month ago, but had to give the museum a miss due to time contraints......

Not certain what I missed as I have never been there! So near and yet so far etc!
