This was the 2nd passenger of the morning after the Orange Express went through. At the time this was the busiest steam worked line in the world; 120+ trains, all steam.
Steam finished on this line in March 1976.

Bloem-Kroonstad. This was the final watering station before Bloem, although 23s usually could run through. Short tender Fs usually watered here. There is quite a climb southbound from Glen.

Really nice selection of pics and the Kroonstad to Bloem line was a 23 and 15 F race track. We would often get the overnight train to Bloem to spend a weekend trainspotting, and would have the tape recorders out for the night run from Kroonstad to Bloem, arriving somewhere about 4 to 5 am at Bloem.
