A short piece of track crosses the riverside road in the Egyptian Quarter of Malakal. The road is now cut in places by drainage ditches and is pretty much disused. That's the Nile in the background, incidentally.

You still have to be a bit careful with photography in Malakal, especially in areas such as the river port and airport, which are considered "security" areas.

A few years back I had an SLR with a 90% lens (which they do not seeem to do anymore). It looked like an SLR lenses but in fact took a photo out of the side of the lens (via a small widow pretending to be aperture info).
It was great and I got some excellent pics with it!
The lens was designed for taking photos of children and people - without them looking self conscious. Worked well for this too!
